Our private location is 40 miles north of Taos, New Mexico, and lies on the Rio Costilla River. The Rio Costilla River is legendary among local residents for its excellent fly fishing. One of our 9-year old guests landed a 14-inch rainbow trout in front of the Elk cabin.

The 2 main types of trout that can be found in the river include the Rio Grande Cut Throat and Cutbow. Whether you are an experienced angler or a novice, Cottonwood Meadow Ranch is a great place to cast your line. We are the only cabin rental on the river, which allows you easy access to fly fishing right outside your door.

Rio Castillow Fly Fishing in Northern New MexicoFly fishing is offered on the 1 mile of the Rio Costilla River that runs through our private property. This is by appointment only for catch and release. Guide service is available to assist you both on the ranch and for trips to local areas. Ed Adams and Doc Thompson, our guide service partners, have 40 years of fly fishing guide experience. They have been fly fishing the Rio Costilla River for the past 20 years and are very knowledgeable of the local streams in the area, including the Ponil, Commanche, Conejos, Culebra and Rio Grande.

We can also arrange guide services for pike fishing, big bows and browns on the Red and Rio Grande rivers, with Ed and Rita Adams.
